The walk and the plan

The plan

The plan was to walk the route in reverse in one day as most of the team live in or near to Hertford.

Although there is some information on the route, the turn by turn instructions start from London and head out.  The first section of the route (from London) is known as the heritage sections and does involve lots of twists and turns along streets and parks and although there are plenty of signs it would be easy to get off route.

We also noted that there was a lack of good GPX file to follow and most were fairly old and did not reflect some of the recent additions and changes that Thames Water had made to the route in 2014. - see below for updated GPX in reverse!

Our designated team leader (Garry) painstakingly retyped the first section of the turn by turn instructions so as to reverse them for our version of the route.  He also plotted the route as best as he could to create a GPX file that we could use to follow on the day.

Garry expectation was that as a team of 6 - Steve; Adam, Suzina, Garry, myself (Paul) and of course Woody that the walk could take 10-11 hours to complete.

Meeting up at Hertford North to catch the 6:19am train down to the Angel, Islington for the start.

GPX File

The following link gives access to a GPX plan of the route.  There are a few small glitches, but nothing too bad.
